A vitally important event fast approaches.  November 14/15 is set for our Commitment Sabbath.  Now is the time for each of us to prayerfully consider our personal financial picture and how God fits into our plans for the future.  Commitment Sabbath is when we express, as clearly as possible, what we expect to contribute in 2016.  I encourage you to be as generous as possible with your investments of time and money in St. Andrews.  Budgets and schedules certainly limit what is available for each of us to give, but careful planning and wise commitment can allow each of us to do our part.

Sometimes it seems that anyone described as being generous is either very wealthy or foolish.  Somehow too many in our world get the idea that giving is someone else’s responsibility.  Or perhaps that what we are comfortable giving is of no consequence.  In such dark moments it occurs to me that all that I have has been given to me in one way or another, through God’s Grace.  Further virtually every person with whom I have come in contact has given me something.  It is a staggering and irrefutable draw towards humility.  Please acknowledge that you are generous!  Accept the label.  Make a serious commitment and deliver it.
For me, it is a daunting notion to attempt to contemplate the magnitude, the complexity, the great depth of God’s work in my life.  Perhaps you experience this awe from time to time as well?  Certain it is that God’s work and God’s plans are far, far too great for any of us to complete individually, yet none of us lives without them!  Together, through Jesus Christ and our congregation at St. Andrews great things are uniquely possible.  More is possible with you, than without.

Thanks be to God!
Dave Murphy,
